| You can either pick up forms from your local newspaper or get them from their website. Announcements should be submitted at least two two weeks prior to the desired date of publication.
Engagement and Wedding announcements range from free to $60 or more, depending upon which newspaper you are submitting them to. Most newspapers limit their free announcements to 14 lines one-column lines without a photo.
Photos can usually be submitted in black and white or color, as long as they are no larger than 8”x10”. When either dropping off your photo or sending it through the mail to your local newspaper you should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with your announcement and photo so that they can return the photo to you.
The engagement photo may be of either just the bride-elect or both the bride and groom. You may wish to have a formal engagement photo taken.
You can find many professional photographers on the Special Event Network website for both your engagement & wedding photos.
Your announcement should be typed or clearly block-printed, or you may fill in and submit an on-line form if one is available. Most forms must be authorized by one of the principals (bride, groom, or parents) and you should include an address and daytime phone number.
